Letter-writer Giampiero Bartolucci has conveniently left something out. The ones who control the microphones at the local temples are not just leading their herds toward voting, they are leading them toward voting Liberal. The Liberals are the ones that are throwing taxpayer money at them and so the "herds" are told to return the favour by voting Liberal.

This is a blatant money-for-votes ploy. None of this money went to groups in which Canadians tend to vote singly, only to those who vote en masse. This is the furthest one can possibly get from democracy -- but then what do Liberals know about democracy?
