Re: Faith-Based Schools Help Multiculturalism, Letter, Aug. 9.
Some
see what they want to see. Apparently those seeking public money for
their child's religious education, cannot see that the obvious path out
of the dilemma of Ontario funding Catholic schools is for the province
to only fund the public school system.
Ontario Premier, Dalton
McGuinty, speaks of the strength of our current public school system as
a vehicle for better understanding and acceptance, but hypocritically
maintains he cannot do what Manitoba, Quebec and Newfoundland and
Labrador have already done to end sectarian education.
Some speak of fairness. Since when did some historical gaffe deserve another?
Some
speak of impossibilities. If Ontario cannot end its current educational
policy favouring Catholics, how do we expect other states to solve
their historical religious and cultural problems?
