There are four possible explanations for the existence of the Muslim Communities Working Group Operational Unit within the Department of Foreign Affairs:
1. The government has decided that one religion, and one religion only, is deserving of preferential influence in Canadian foreign affairs. Only Muslims have been granted insider status and influence.
2. The government has decided that Muslims are more dangerous, violent and/or subversive than any other religious group, and so a special unit is required to deal with the threat uniquely posed by Muslims, but not, apparently, by Christians, Jews, Hindus, or any other religious group.
3. The previous government was whoring for ethnic votes, and figured that Islamicizing our foreign policy would be a good way buy an ethnic voting block, regardless of the increased security risks for all Canadians.
4. Islamist influences established a fifth column within government departments, and political correctness and naivete are preventing this travesty from being overturned.
Whatever the reason, Canadians deserve an explanation for granting one group preferential influence over foreign affairs.
