What are the root causes of home grown terrorism? All of a sudden the liberal shibboleths don't apply. The "root causes" of poverty, colonialism, poor Palestinians, and the policies of the United States and Israel are now proven wrong and meaningless. Canadians deserve an apology from our liberal friends who have wrongly pushed their "root causes" ideas on us. By their doing so we have come close to having us face multiple deaths from Islamic terrorism in Canada. We must look at other causes and these must be in Islam itself. Surely the twin ideas of military jihad and no separation of church and state are two essential features of the Muslim religion - and not only of Islamism that lead to terrorism. The Globe editorial said that the vast majority of Muslims are law-abiding and peace loving. This gives me no comfort if most also accept military jihad and no separation of church and state, as these ideas will always lead to some of their community becoming terrorists.
The Globe editorial also said that it is only 17 Muslims of a total population of some 750,000 Canadian Muslims. Although true, if 17 such Muslims plan terrorist actions every few months, or even every year, Canada will no longer be the safe and free country that it is now. 17 is a substantial number of terrorists, no matter how you swing the statistics.
Canadians, including Muslim Canadians, must recognize that at least these two aspects of Islam are inherent in it and must be negated. Without such a negation, Islam will continue to be a religion of conflict in all western and free countries.
