In Reply to: Ban radical Sheikh invited to address young Canadian Muslims posted by CCD Press Release

"Banning" the twit sheik sounds reactionary and based in fear and anger. He hasn't come. He isn't wanted.

By the way, where does such a nitwit get a title such as sheik? From Merriam-Webster: 1 : an Arab chief, 2 usually sheik : a man held to be irresistibly attractive to romantic young women. A violent Don Juan, then? In America, the word chief denotes respectability.

Using the word "unwelcome" speaks of civility, of a deliberate and wise choice, a preference on Canadians' part of saying to the shiek and his ilk that their violent message isn't welcome here.

"Unwelcome" is more active. It speaks from a stronger perspective, that traditional quiet subdued Canadian fierceness which comes out only when Canadians have a task that so much needs doing.

Be warned that the act of blocking entrance to a sheik will be construed according to the koran by the islamists as an act against islam and will "deserve" quranickly-justified retaliation by the radicals. They're such a friendly peace-loving bunch. No, really.

I agree with Shelley. Who would invite him to visit here remains a very important question to answer, and to deal with.

As Roger Whittaker sang: Canada is a nation full of love. How true. This love is a far stronger quality than fear.
