I agree with your comments, but they do not go far enough. In essence, Israel is fighting for its very existence. This is an illegal war of genocide aimed at killing every Jew in Israel. The sworn aim or goal of the various groups lined up against Israel is to destroy Israel as a Jewish state and to either drive the Jews into the sea or subjugate the survivors in a Muslim state. That is why Isreal is referred to as the "occupier" and an "illegal" state or entity. Even the PA, while accepting a two-state solution, sees that solution only as an immediate goal. In the long term, it too aims to destroy the Jewish state in time and through attrition. Prime Minister Harper appears to understand what is at stake for Isreal and for Isreali Jews. He als understanda that for Jews in other countries, their security depends on the continued existence of the Jewish state. The Prime Minister has taken a principled posiiton on Israel's right to exist and to defend itself as best it can from anihilation. Good for him. He has my vote in the next election.
