Alastair,
A fine press release, and I hope media people pick it up. One point through. Susan
Bonner did a very one-sided report for the CBC National (giving Peter McKay one sound
bite, and three or four opposition members sound bites -- to put him on the defensive).
But worse, she did in fact say that the committee refused to hear evidence from
Lebanese nationals, but she implied that it was the Conservatives who were the ones
refusing to hear the witnesses. She also had one Lebanese-Canadian on for a sound bite,
but he (in my impression) sounded very anti-Conservative (I might be wrong, since by
then I was frustrated at Bonner's report).
I picked up right away that it was the opposition members who were intolerant, since in
all committee's the opposition has the majority. But average CBC viewers wouldn't know
this fine point.
Could you check to see if Bonner mislead the CBC audience?
Anyways, thanks for the press release. I will use it in my next WatchDog issue.
Sincerely,
David Murrell
