I didn't see the CBC news report, but if that was their implication, it is a 100% inversion of the truth. It isn't even a distortion, it is a complete fabrication.
No one could have sat through over an hour of listening to Alexa McDonough, Francine Lalonde and others all fighting for a precedural motion that would shut out the witnesses, while the Conservatives fought with everything they had for the witnesses to be heard, and come away implying that the Conservatives were blocking the witnesses.
If that was CBC's message, they should be sued for slander, for that is a damaging and utterly untrue allegation. And should such a suit ever happen, the Hansard record would damn both the CBC and the Opposition.
Knowing now about the CBC reporting, this incident is even more sleazy and disgusting that I imagined. This country is in trouble!
