Dear Mr. Gordon
Congratulations on taking the important step and opportunity to address the House of Commons with respect to the silencing, by opposition MPs at the Foreign Affairs Committee, of Lebanese witnesses about exactly what Hezbollah is doing in Lebanon!
Your statement about the "land for peace" calls to the House of Commons the resposibility they must accept to take action on a plan to support Israel and bring the terrorist group Hezbollah to surrender. I found the following 2 paragraphs to be very convicting to what is actually happening this very moment in the middle east:
"Prime Minister Stephen Harper has rightly chosen democracy over terror in this conflict. He is not seeking the ephemeral and short-lived popularity enjoyed by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in 1938 when he chose to negotiate with Adolf Hitler and sacrificed Czechoslovakia for "Peace in our time". That contrived "peace" gave the Nazis the time, opportunity and tacit approval to grow to a near-unstoppable force that resulted, by the end of World War II, in 45 million dead and Europe in ruins."
"In today's terms, Prime Minister Harper recognizes that sacrificing Israel to the demands of a fascist enemy will not bring peace. Just as Hitler peddled his self-inflicted and self-serving grievances to gullible Western leaders and peace activists while pursuing his well-publicized charter, so too will Hamas and Hezbollah. And they will be further emboldened by the apparent weakness of today's gullible Westerners."
I applaud you're taking a 'Churchill' approach to this utmost important crisis. You have presented the facts as they ARE exactly. There is no need to be a 'rocket scientist' as we say in America to figure what Hezbollah, Hamaas and Fatah want to do. They have a dastardly history and as you pointed out it is in their charter (along with Iran's present darling president) and ingrained in their children from birth to kill Jews and end their existance from their rightful state. It is abhoring that any free democracy would not defend its country, its people and its sovereign right to exist.
Forty-Six years ago to the month Sir Winston Churchill stood in the House of Commons in the UK and at a very crucial time in WWII as they were being bombed relentlessly. He spoke of and gave thanks for the courage of the Royal Air Force that fought off those NAZI attacks. His words in that speech are immortal and stand today for what Israel is doing in the middle east, not only for their own survival but also for many free democracies that are benifiting from their courage: "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."
Your charge of what Prime Minster Stephen Harper is doing during these times of crisis is a clarion call to the nations of this earth to unite and come against this evil that seeks to destroy democracy and the "inaliable rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."
Thank you Mr. Gordon for your principle and dedication to step up to the plate and be that 'one' that begins the movement neccessary against this present evil.
Respectfully,
Lloyd Briggs
