Statement Concerning Canadian Aid to the Democratically Elected Government of Palestine

This statement is issued in response to the email message distributed by the Canadian Coalition for Democracies on September 12, 2006.

--------------------------------------------------

Both Fatah and Hamas have already announced that they could live in peace with Israel within the 1967 borders. For this to happen, Israel must first comply with the unanimously adopted UN Security Council Resolution 242 (reinforced by Resolution 338).

Resolution 242 calls for an immediate withdrawal of Israeli Army from territories occupied in the 1967 Six Day War, in the context of inadmissibility of acquisition of territory by war.

The Canadian Coalition for Democracies, which serves as an instrument of the Israel Lobby in Canada, should pass this requirement to the government of Israel immediately. In this message, the Canadian Coalition for Democracies should state very clearly that Israel will be recognized only after the following conditions are met:

1. Israel fully complies with the UN Security Council Resolution 242 and withdraws effectively to its January 1, 1967 borders.

2. Israel fully recognizes Palestine's right to exist and the right of Palestinian people to democratically elect a government of their choosing.

3. Israel gives up its criminal policies, illegal wars, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

4. Israel delivers the war criminals that currently serve in the Israeli government, Israeli army, and Israeli Secret Services to the International Criminal Court in order to be tried for their crimes.

5. Israel fully compensates the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the loss of civilian lives in Palestine and Lebanon.

The Canadian Coalition for Democracies should stick to the commitment reflected in its own name and should urge Canadian Government to provide assistance to the democratically elected government of Palestine.

The statement, distributed by Canadian Coalition for Democracies on behalf of the Israel Lobby, is and incredible example of arrogance and hypocrisy. It has to be entirely rejected by the Canadian government and by any person committed to honesty and integrity.

Canadians are not going to serve criminal policies of Israel. I strongly demand that Stephen Harper, Peter MacKay, and all members of Canadian government fully reject this request and restore Canadian Aid to the Palestinian government as soon as possible.

I also demand that those who push Israel's criminal agenda in Canada be immediately arrested and tried for complicity in the crimes committed by Israel.
