I understand historical parallels are never precise, but this one seems apt as the appeasing left are waking up to reality in Israel. And there surely be more "blood, sweat, and tears", as Israel's international governmental ties weakens, and becomes more and more reliant on those individual citizens who still treasure the concept of a free society.
