Believe me, Iranian dissidents will fight harder against Sharia law than any native-born Canadian. They know first-hand what Islamic theocracy is like. The Iranian dissidents I know are more committed to democracy and tolerance than most of our politicians, academics, and media elites. They are a huge asset to Canada.
But I absolutely agree with the need to select immigrants based on Canada's ability to assimilate them to our values, and not to exceed the rate at which assimilation can occur. Right now, the rate of immigration and refugee arrivals is like drinking from a fire hose.
