Al and Bill, Thank you for the responses. My post was directed to Bill and his message, not to CCD, but I appreciate hearing about CCD. I have a very low opinion of the current WH administration, and find it frightening to think they would enter another military endeavour. Your (Bill's) evaluation of their Iraq motives appears quite generous. I like to think of them as incompetent, because the alternative is extremely discouraging, but I honestly can't be certain. I strongly supported all nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation initiatives in past decades, but the nuclear powers had different aspirations and have lead us down a path where we can't afford to have incompetent or unwise leadership.
In any case, I agreed with Tom Murphy's message. I see some of Iran's (and other countries, including Venezuela's) current actions and words as reactionary. The WHs strategy of a war of words and actions and shock and awe, with no obvious diplomatic efforts, are not reducing terrorism, not making enemy states more moderate or the world more stable. As a side product, they are not putting the US economy on a stronger path. I see all of this as speeding up the process for China emerging as a much greater world power and who knows where that will take us.
