The Ontario Liberal funding scandal warns taxpayers of what happens when politicians pander to "ethnic" votes. On a Saturday morning last April, I landed on Nor Horizon, a Canadian Armenian news program on the multicultural channel OMNI TV. There presenting an oversized cheque for $500,000 was liberals Gerry Phillips and David Kaplan. When asked as to the use of these funds, the Armenian leader noted that their community centre's lobby and bathrooms needed renovating!
So how does Minister Gerry Phillips assuming the duties of Mike Colle change anything? Or bestowing the responsibility of multicultural grants to Minister David Kaplan? For that matter, how is John Tory's pledge to fund faith-based education any different in its pandering to "ethnic" votes and its inability to prevent the misdirection of funds?
Too many in various ethnic communities use the guise of "multiculturalism" to propagate old-world hatred. Such distorted multicultural funding seems a bad use of Ontario tax-payer money.
