What a wonderful article by Mr. Raghubeer! Congratulations! In my community there has been a long commitment to government funding Jewish day schools, while it would be nice and a big help to my family I am not prepared to pay the price. I am glad that my children go to a public day school so that some of their school mates who come from families that may preach against Jews can meet Jewish kids first hand and play hockey with them and discover that they are no different from everyone else and no different from them. If our kids are each segregated in their own little parochial worlds all the prejudices about THE OTHER will have a much easier time taking root and we have seen the bloody consequences of that. How strong can our Jewish faith be if we are afraid that it will dissolve if we mingle with THE OTHER? I also do not want to be seen as a freeloader on hard-working Canadian taxpayers because they have their own priorities to spend their money on. I will pay for Hebrew lessons for my kids and be grateful that they are part of the Canadian scene not an isolated enclave that has no idea about THE OTHER. McGuinty is a fool, but Goodbye John Tory unless you stop playing this deadly game with our lives and our money!
