What an entirely hypocritical and myopic case of flip-flopping on the part of the Canadian government.
I was seething when I heard of $300 million going to a state sponsoring terrorism, extremism, and murder not just of Israelis, Canadians, and others but of their own as well.
I think it is high time we develop a "Canadian Democracy Test" by which we qualify all prospective nations for aid and/or political support.
Any government must outline their rationale of the qualifiers (we can have a debate on what they can be) and thus the case made before a cent is delivered abroad.
The perpetuation of CIDA and DFAIT programmes that are funding shoddy projects and interests hostile to Canada make Harper at times no better than those who preceded him.
