As a Canadian taxpayer I am furious that the government I voted for is going to throw away another 300 million dollars into the pockets of a few corrupt palestinians. I am in agreement with your announcement - although I think you err on the side of optimism. There never has been any workable set of controls and limitations on such funds. It is an absurd waste. It is interesting that some of the nearby Arab countries basking in oil wealth are not throwing such amounts away - it would seem that they know better. Given the crumbling of our health care system, given our extraordinary high levels of taxation on even the modest middle class, I don't understand how a government that has the name "conservative" in it somewhere can countenance this foolish proposal. Let the palestinians first demonstrate that they can establish some of the foundations of a civil society including orienting their children towards the idea of accepting the Jewish state of Israel beside them and as a potential partner in many ventures.
