Until the Jews began to immigrate to the region of modern Israel in the latter part of the 19th century and began buying land up from the locals there and the Turkish authority, the land was desolate and barren with a very small indiginous population eeking a living off the land.
Mark Twain in a visit to the region stated you could walk all day and not see another soul.
The Jews who brought with them then modern farming technologies to irrigate desert and drained swamps and to build infrastructure began hiring local Arabs to supplement their work force.
Word quickly spread amongst the neighboring Arab nations that the Jews needed workers and were paying better wages then they could earn where they were.
It was in fact the Jewish success in making the land aerable and developing infrastructure to support the growing agrarian economy that drew so many Arabs to the region.
Jewish success however also bred Arab resentment and jealousies. Rather then emulate the Jews for their innovation and industry and improve the economies and plights of their own citizens, Arab nations drew on their cultural enmity for the Jews and began blaming Jews for the failings of the Arab nations as a means to distract their people from the failings of Arab leadership.
The same goes on today with so many Arab nations as they fill their media and educational systems with their Jew hatred which they continue to feed to their people to distract them from their own failings.
The Jew hatred and existential challenges to Israel's survival is in a way because Israel is the victim of her own success. She is however only a victim because the Arab nations and peoples lack the capacity to look inward and instead find convenient excuses for their failures in blaming the Jews for all their ills.
