There are times one can write a coherent letter to editor and when the newspaper's editor(s) get finished with it, your coherent letter seems as if a moron wrote it. Did this ever happen to you?
I appreciated the Nat'l. Post very much publishing my letter, but did they have to hack at it until it died? While certainly not written like a professional journalist, it was much better than what they published.
My heart goes out to the Pakistani people who have had it up to their necks with terrorism and are now very frightened. Actually, I think the world is frightened and not without reasons. In America when the Kennedy brothers were assassinated as was Martin Luther King, we all knew the central government from all parties were also shocked and had nothing to do with the killings. When a Jewish terrorist killed Israel's Prime Minister Itzhak Rabin, all government parties were stunned and saddened. It is my opinion Pakistan, the USA and Israel have nuclear arsenal and because the American and Israeli governments had nothing to do with the assassination, the world knew nothing nuclear was going to blow up. When President Sadat was killed also by a terrorist, we knew Egypt was not in possession of nuclear weapons. This brings us on the question of Pakistan, a nuclear power in its own right. The government there is fragmented and unstable, to say the least. Pakistanis have to deal with a daily dose of terrorism, talibanism and totalitarianism. It is time the world get very involved in that part of the globe and try to do something sane other than send messages of sympathy. This blatant act of murder was an act of terror and it is chilling for it sends the world a message which reads terrorists have no fear of death nor consequence.
