There has been a lot of response from Europe on this press release. One of the recurring themes is that hundreds of millions (billions!) of dollars were being paid to an openly corrupt and violent Palestinian Authority, even while the donors knew millions were being funneled into Swiss bank accounts for kleptocrats like Arafat.
The reason is that Western leaders have always known this is not for funding a peace process. It is nothing more than protection money paid to a Palestinian mafia. "Nice little country ya got here. Wouldn't want to see anything happen to it."
No one in their right mind could look at the state of Palestinian society and conclude that foreign aid is having a beneficial effect. No Western leader could possibly conclude that he or she has no domestic initiative more deserving of a few hundred million dollars than Arafat or Abbas. The facts on the ground support a protection racket in which an Islamofascist fifth column in Europe and likely Canada will act as the muscle if the protection payments don't arrive.
We know there is no act too vile for the Palestinian leadership, including killing the children of their Palestinian opponents and massacring Jewish students. So threats of this nature are clearly within their moral envelope, and the facts on the ground are consistent with a Palimafia protection racket.
