Keep up the good work!

It is about time that the civilized peoples of the world, including and especially those of Canada, objectively appraise the current conflict between Israel and the Palestinians for what it really is.

The two sides in this conflict ARE NOT "morally comparable", and Israel is not "oppressing" the Palestinians.

The real situation is that the Palestinians have been made into terrorist pawns of the rest of Arab/Moslem SW Asia, and as such, represent the "tip of the spear" in the latter's efforts to delegitimize and destroy Israel.

The only difference between Israel and her war against the PA - Fatah or Hamas - on the one hand, and our war against the Taliban and Al Queda in Afghanistan, on the other, is that for Israel, Afghanistan is RIGHT NEXT DOOR.

It is scandalous that governments of purportedly civilized, liberal democratic Western countries have been wasting their taxpayers money on "aid" to the PA. The PA leadership's only purpose is to perpetuate the conflict so as to extort even more aid money from the international community with which to line their own pockets, since they are completely incapable of leading their people in anything remotely approaching a genuinely constructive manner. At least, that is their main purpose when they aren't busy trying to murder Israeli civilians!

The best solution will be for the PA to be dismantled and disarmed, ending their role as the sole representatives of the Palestinian people. Along with this, the monarchy of Palestinian-majority Jordan should accept a ceremonial role, and cede real power to a democratcally elected government in that country, which is the real, de facto "Palestinian state" in any event. This would represent no more than evolutionary political change for Jordan, since such arrangements - democratic countries with ceremonial monarcheis - are the rule in much of Europe.

Once the above was accomplished, Palestinian-majority portions of the West Bank could become a province of Jordan, but as a demilitarized zone between Jordan and Israel. Israel would keep Jerusalem and some other built-up Jewish areas of the West Bank; this is the price the Arabs would have to pay for their aggression against Israel in 1967, just as Germany had to pay for her past aggression against her neighbors with Alsace-Lorraine and Silesia. And forget about "right of return" for Palestinian refugees from 1948 and 1967; since both of these wars were started by the Arabs, this so-called "right of return" was similarly forfeited by belligerency of the relevant Arab leaders.

As for Gaza, this should be incorporated into Egypt as per arrangments of the pre-1967 period, and Egypt should take responsibility for restoring order to that cesspool of Islamic extremism.

Members of the CCD, I salute you! You represent the best side of Canada!
