Why not go a step beyond the demand that Minister Bernier disclose conditions for yet another wasted truckload of hard-earned Canadian tax-payers' money. Why not demand from the Minister a rationale for continuing this policy of handing out money to a government that spends more time in planning the demise of Israel than in building a nation. I for one do not want to support a government that inculcates children with hatred against Jews, endorses suicide bombing, and uses my money to sponsor terrorists who blow up Israeli civilians.
The money that Canada sends to the Palestinian Authority is a gift, and the only gratitude the average tax-payer would expect is for the Palestinian people to get their act together and build a nation for themselves. But why should the government of Canada keep dishing out aid when the Palestinians use the money for purposes other than intended. I don't think Canadians want their tax dollars going to fund terrorism.
Instead of planning the demise of Israel, the Palestinian nation would do well to look to its neighbour as a model of what can be done with foreign aid, hard work, vision and dedication. If tiny Israel could create a strong nation,and also give shelter to hundreds of thousands of European and Middle Eastern Jews, then surely the Palestinian people can do the same. It's just a question of shifting priorities.
